Super Yacht Tenders
These tenders can spend varying amounts of time in the water and in their garage. Some also need to be capable of beach landing. Therefore, need tough, waterproof and high-end finishes.
The unique way Durepox provides a tough water proof finish that can complement ant match the topside finish is why it is used for this application. Were Antifouls can be difficult to withstand the wear and tear and look aesthetically pleasing when the boat is out of the water in the garage or deck. Durepox will resist blistering if water is trapped under the cradles when stored which is often an issue with topside paints.
Many applicators have developed their own methods for this application but in most cases. The colour is achieved by getting a close match to the topsides colour in the Durepox primer or indeed the colour of choice if a different one is asked for. The primer is applied in sufficient film build to be able to sand back and not break through. The High performance Clear (HPC) is applied over the top to give a tough, UV resistant finish.
Hint & Tips
- Make sure there is enough coloured primer to not rub through when sanding and be careful on the any hard chines and spray rails not to sand too hard.
- The HPC gives it the shine and UV so make sure there is enough on there to do its job.
- Customers have used the HPC over the top of metallic base coats with great success but do some trials to ensure it works with your base coat.
- Durepox is not an Antifouling although it protects from water ingress if the boat is left in the water for a long time. If the boat is regularly in the water for long periods an Antifoul might be better.
- If extra fairing is required the Durepox High solids will help profile the bottom of the boat if required.
